When you look at a cathedral like this, with all its icons, you have to keep in mind that, in the 14th Century most people couldn’t read. So, all this statuary and painting on the west front was necessary to tell the story of Christianity to the masses.

The arches of the north portal are decorated with majestic and graceful 14th century statues representing the virtues and striking down the vices and, around the tympanum, by angels and other biblical characters.

A walking tour of this charming city, with its winding cobblestone streets, half-timbered houses, and picturesque canals, is like something out of a fairytale. We started our tour at the iconic Cathedral Notre Dame de Strasbourg and then strolled through the historic Petite France neighborhood, known for its charming bridges and colorful buildings reflected in the waterways.
