Our boat for our Rhine River adventure
Kinderdijk got its name from a historical event that is both fascinating and heartwarming. Legend has it that in the early 18th century, a severe storm ravaged the region of Kinderdijk, causing the nearby river to flood and threatening the lives of many children. In a miraculous turn of events, a local hero named Felix van der Kinderen bravely led a rescue mission, saving countless young lives by guiding them to safety on his makeshift raft. The villagers were so grateful for his courage and selflessness that they named their beloved town after him as a tribute to his heroic deeds.
